Festivals of Madhyapur Thimi

During the year period the newa people of Madhyapur Thimi celebrate many festivals and jatras. Every festival starts by worshiping the god and goddess. Newa people also celebreate the festivals by offering feast with multiple varieties of foods and drinks. Special type of foods are prepared on special festival and need to offer for their god and goddess. Following are the list of festivals celebrated by newars of Madhyapur Thimi.

Balkumari Temple

Balkumari Temple, Thimi, Bhaktapur

One of the religious and cultural place of Thimi where a big festival of Thimi, Biska Jatra is celebrated on every year Baisakh 2nd with 19 palanquins together. During jatra the sounds of Dhime and Bhusya, crowds of people, the vermillon powder, the chhatras and the disciplined palanquins following was really amazing. A pagoda style three storeys roofed temple with wonderful architecture will definately attract every visitor.
